Minicurso

“50 Shades of Black Holes and How to Find Them”

Prof. Dr. Gonzalo J. Olmo
Department of Theoretical Physics & IFIC, University of Valencia – CSIC

Segunda-feira, 04 e Quarta-feira, 06 de maio de 2026, das 11h às 12h30min, na sala 201 do Departamento de Física/CCEN.

RESUMO: In this mini-course, I will present the basic principles of the raytracing technique applied to the study of the geometry around compact astrophysical objects using null geodesics. The information contained in these geodesics, together with the properties of the surrounding matter, provides the key ingredients for constructing the intensity profiles observed by the EHT collaboration’s radio telescopes. The course will be divided into a theoretical part and a computational part (using Mathematica), in which intensity profiles for selected black holes will be developed.
